Unemployment is DOWN again ! But I do not think the Reserve Bank will increase again the Interest rate . The bad sentiment at 15 years low would be considered , to test whethe the waters of the economy .Or maybe the sentiment would have no bearing at all GIVEN that the economy is still producing employment and cutting unemployment .
U know I just cannot imagine our economy , if the housing sector was to be revived . Where the hell the economy could draw the workers from ?
4% ? 3% will NEVER work due to Health-social-psychological deficiencies . 1% is always looking temporarily out of work because they r going to move to a new job . ????????????? So what is your opinion ?...cheers eG

What do I think? I think the numbers are always flawed.

I know of a lady (regional NSW) who was being paid less than the award wage.
After a dispute with her employer, she left 6 months ago.
She has been seeking work by word of mouth ever since.
She still has no job and is not registered for the dole.
The Unemployment statistics know nothing about her.

I do not criticise the Bureau for this because they can only do what they can
but I believe there are many who are too proud (or whatever) to register as Unemployed.
Every interest rate rise will see them fall totally out of the picture.

The total number of job advertisements in June was 6.2 per cent higher than 12 months ago but Jobs ads fall for a second month.
Jobs ads fall for a second month: ANZFont Size: Decrease Increase Print Page: Print July 07, 2008
THE total number of newspaper and internet job advertisements has fallen for the second straight month, an ANZ survey said.

The survey found the total number of jobs advertised in major metropolitan newspapers and on the internet fell by 3 per cent in June, to a seasonally adjusted 262,705 per week.

This followed a 1.7 per cent decline in May.

The total number of job advertisements in June was 6.2 per cent higher than 12 months ago.

The total number of ads in major metropolitan newspapers was down 3.5 per cent in June, to an average of 16,593 per week.

Newspaper ads were 17.9 per cent lower when compared with June last year.

The number of jobs advertised on the internet fell by 2.9 per cent to an average of 246,112 per week.

ANZ co-head of Australian economics Sally Auld said the survey was consistent with the trend in easing employment growth since the start of the year.

Ms Auld said employment growth should ease modestly over the next six months, but she did not expect a significant slowing in labour market activity.

“Indeed, the risk may be that persistent skill shortages could encourage firms to hoard labour,” Ms Auld said in a statement.

“This should ensure that while labour market conditions soften, the slowdown in employment growth and the rise in the unemployment rate will be reasonably measured.”

The largest drop in newspaper advertisements was recorded in Victoria, which fell 6.8 per cent.

Ads declined 5.7 per cent in the ACT and 5.6 per cent in Queensland.

NSW, which was down 4.1 per cent, and NT, where the number of ads shrunk 2.3 per cent, were also lower.

Heading in the opposite direction was Tasmania, where job ads jumped 16.6 per cent.

Job ads in South Australia and Western Australia were also higher, up 1 per cent and 0.3 per cent, respectively.

Sales of New Motor Vehicles, Australia_Sep 2009
Statistic released today

http://www.abs.gov.au/ausstats/abs@.nsf ... enDocument

Four things I noted: (my extracts)
TOTAL NEW MOTOR VEHICLE SALES
1) Seasonally adjusted - The September 2009 seasonally adjusted estimate for total sales of
new motor vehicles (77 744) increased by 2.9% when compared to August 2009;
2) The September 2009 seasonally adjusted estimate for total new motor vehicle
sales is 2.0% lower than the September 2008 estimate.

3) SUSPENSION OF TREND ESTIMATES
.....
The new motor vehicle sales trend series has therefore been suspended from May 2009. The trend series will be reintroduced when more certainty emerges in the underlying behaviour of new car sales.

4) Tax Break for Small Business (my heading)
eligibility period for the Small Business and General Business Tax Break was extended to December 2009. The rebate level was also increased for small businesses, allowing eligible businesses to claim an increased tax deduction on the purchase of new motor vehicles.
