Fishing

Postby jonasson » Sun May 16, 2010 9:23 pm

Bought my first boat week before easter, choice b/w golf or bowls (nope) an affair,or a boat, wife went for boat. :D

Big learning curve- boating, navigation, bait, tides, gps, barometer, wind speed/direction, marine radio, fish varieties, etc etc.
Don't think I've learnt so much in a short time for many years.

Did our fourth excursion y/day, found the Glenelg tyre reef, after stuffing up the gps reading,
but finding it with the echo sounder, and landing some "moonlighter" fish?

Advised by a kindly asian gentleman @ the washdown facility of the variety, and even the cooking method (steaming)

I'm hooked.

I have meanwhile taken up kitesurfing which is also quite interesting, especially during the learning stages. I now have it under control most of the time.

and I have taken up both golf and bushwalking.

Being an efficient sort of bloke, I manage to combine the two activities at the same time

If you are in Adelaide, and have a spare day or two, call Glenn, and arrange a charter.

It'll be the best $200 you've spent, and chances are you'll recoup most of your money in fish.

You'll need to pre-book a little in advance, it's a 2.5 hr drive from Adel,
making it a day trip, or even better, stay a couple of nights and soak it up.

Ronny
You would have great fun with this method - and that includes the family!
It is very popular in NZ-whilst not an éxpert' I have been
using the method for some time plus other landbase methods.

THe only downside is 'fizz boats'could cut your line.

Can post site if interested

cheers

Blue crab season here in SA and there is nothing better in the sea; if you can get here in summer months,

you must try for them, by boat or by raking in the shallows at low tide.

My biggest some years back was 32inches claw to claw tips
