big fan of home grown fuel for remote and outlying islands, australia has a lot of these, but getting the motivation and dedication to line up with coconuts to get reliable supply pipelines doesn't seem to have good rolemodels. even palm oil and jatropha fuel plantations in the tropics lack the success that brazil has had with sugar cane ethanol.

in vanuatu, the big island with population density has world bank studied plans for extending the power distribution network along an improved 'island ring road' more customers at a cheaper price.

new zealand engineering, world development bank financing, vanuatu hot water, australian lets connect the dots hopes----could work. anybody spent time in the islands could suggest choke points, wrong point in the economic cycle for medium term hope stocks, but at this price level kuth is selling at seed capital levels.gamble stakes only.

Flowing forward

Geothermal hopeful Petratherm says it has successfully completed crucial flow tests at its Paralana project, although it will be several weeks before the results can be properly assessed. Petratherm and its drilling partners, Beach Energy and TRUenergy, say the tests are critical in helping determine how easily the geothermal energy lying some 4kms below the surface can be extracted, and in designing production flows and plant design, and to minimize corrosion

As in other wells, the presence of heat is not contested, but the developers need to understand how easily the steam can be extracted and how to plan for future wells, a 3.75MW pilot plant and a 30MW demonstration plant in coming years. Wells drilled by companies such as Panax and Origin in shallower, more conventional resources known as hot sedimentary aquifers, have found that there is not enough “flow” in the fluids lying at depth to support extraction.

The Paralana project will likely require some fracturing processes, but the developers say the presence of a naturally over-pressured system will, if extensive, assist circulation of fluids between wells and reduce the amount of pumping that will be required. “The joint venture partners have identified a natural geothermal system at Paralana. Future work will further enhance the development of this system. This may significantly lower development risks of establishing a commercial flow for power production,” the company said in a statement...

still a costly business. (and, oh, those hypocrits - allowing PTR to 'fracc' formations while opposing same for shale gas)

From above: "but the developers need to understand how easily the steam can be extracted"

What a statement, after all this time and money has passed.

This is the nuts and bolts of it, and why my money has stayed away.

"but the developers need to understand how easily the steam can be extracted"

should read "but the developers need to understand how difficult it is to extract the steam" (at constant flow, without damaging formation or well!!)

the northern marinaras are part of the old trust territory of the pacific.

now in 'free association' with the united states.

saipan is the largest island in the group.

kuth energy has won a tender to develop geothermal energy on the island,to replace diesel generators.

american government grant to help fund it. access to american tech. foot in door.

looks positive for kuth.asx announcements well worth going over. still rarely traded, and more like a listed seed capital business than your usual asx company.
