One flew over the cookoo's nest

Reading all the titles brought up of many of the same favourites for me, when I think of American actors, have always liked from the Golden Year period Jimmy Stewart and also another that sadly passed away recently Gregory Peck, I have read To Kill a Mockingbird quite a few times and it is a great read and also a very good film.
As we all can I can think of specific parts in films that stick in my mind and are memorable. In One Flew Over the Cookoo's Nest I always like the bit nearing the end of the film where the big fella who smothers Jack Nicholsen with a pillow, picks up a bubbler off the ground and throws it through the bars, that piece is really poignant to me.It is a film (as all good movies do) mix humour with the serious side.
Female actors (or actresses) I like Sigorney Weaver all the stuff she has ever done I like.Ruth Cracknell has been mentioned--coming from a family that is very much like "Mother and Son" to watch it, brings a lot of laughs. For instance this was atypical mother and son incident for me, I was about 19 years old I came home from work (nightshift) absolutely starved---everyone is sleeping in the house, don't want to wake anyone up--all the lights are off--so I thought I'll just get a snack out of the fridge--I spotted a can of sardines there so I thought you beauty--so I put the bread in the toaster buttered a couple of slices up--lathered on the sardines--munched away--had a really good meal.
I woke up the next day (at that time my mother was looking after a stray cat) and she said to me. "What have you done with the cat food?" I said what do you mean? (my heart sinking for in the back of my mind I realised) my mum said "The Whiska's?" anyway I instantly didn't feel to well after that.--LOL The Godfather great film and have read the paperback several times, seeing we all do the stockmarket, probably prefer not to think about the Titanic and many may say the latest epic just a basic storyline both ex Mrs BK and myself enjoyed it immensley--we had our hankey's out, have read several books on great ships including the Titanic, the other one I have read is the Lusitania, I guess The Titanic though as has been proven holds a facsination with many, very sad real life tale--on that score imaginary but also a good flick from the 70's "The Posiedon Adventure" and then closely allied with that--for at the time those of at least my vintage will remember a host of disaster films during that period, "Towering Inferno" "The taking of Pelham 123" (Klugman)--which would bring me to the televison series the Odd Couple with Tony Randal and Jack Klugman--always enjoy watching that when they do re runs. When I think about it--Jack Klugman is a great actor.--I went through a big Shakespeare stage (many people do this I know) yes Lawrence Olivier--I have been to Westminster Abbey and seen his plaque "Let flights of angels sing thee to thy rest" for Shakespeare modern day interpretation I just love Kenneth Brannagh in Henry the 5th--I memorised "Once more to the breach" amongst other parts of it. The musical score was terrific--"Non Nobis Domine" (not unto us oh Lord we are not greatful)--I think is the translation.
Heres a good one (I just thought of it) the very first film I ever saw was in 1968--Oliver Twist which was a good day out--next door neighbours down the road took me into town with their family. Earliest televison memories are of "To Death do us part" with Alf Garnett "The Avengers"--"The Champions" Bob Dyer "BP Pick a Box" John Michael Howson "Magic Roundabout" FeeFee the bear! LOL--Romper Room--I think Romper Room may have stopped now? I'm not too sure--my nephews ended up going on the show--what else? "Honeymooners" with Jack Gleeson, "Skippy" I enjoyed as a child and grew up (lucky for me) with native bush all around, just the same, although different part of Sydney, as the series. Although I was only 5 at the time I can remember the Beatles visiting Australia--as a young fella, used to stay after school at a house till my mother knocked off work to pick me up, anyway I remember the daughter to the people in the house I stayed with, ran away from home for her parents wouldn't let her see the Beatles! crazy by our standards today.---BK.

"The Castle" was shown on one of the free to air netorks last night. I have seen this movie many times. It is genuinely funny, an enduring Aussie classic. "Dad was really proud of Steve, even more than when he was in jail", or "Thailand is full of culture..chockers". And what about Coco and Starflash the greyhounds. "It good luck when the trunk is up, and the trunk was up"

So all those actors get a vote from me.
